Dick Bauer
Address, phone, email
Spouse: Gretchen Hagen Bauer (44 years in July)
Children: Liesel Nelson, married to Chad. They live in Boise where she works for a small hospital as the infectious disease control officer (was a medical lab scientist) and he works for the Forest Service. They just had their first baby, Wyatt Hagen Nelson, and are both river folks, hunters and everything outdoors.
Johanne McGaugh, married to Tom, both accountants. They live in Seattle where she works for Nordstrom as a recruiter for their finance and accounting positions and he works in finance for Privateer Holdings (unusual company - look it up). They just had a baby, Avery Jo McGaugh.
Peter Bauer works for the Forest Service out of Slate Creek heading up a trail crew. He mostly lives in a tent while working very hard in the mountains.
Grandkids: As referenced above, our first two grandchildren were born this spring - the sisters had babies due a day apart!

2017:
I retired in 2013 after a 38-year career as a string and orchestra teacher/conductor in Oregon and Illinois. I also played viola professionally in the Portland area for many years. We moved to Eagle (Boise area) when I retired so we could be close to our families. If they had lived north, we would be up there - I much prefer pine trees to sagebrush. I am still waving my arms as the conductor of the McCall Chamber Orchestra, so I at least get to travel up there frequently. I started skiing again (the new short, wide skis do make it very easy) and started hunting. Most people don’t wait until they are over 65 to get their first deer and elk but we are glad to have our freezer full of excellent meat. We are enjoying this phase of life very much!

2007
Orchestra director, Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville, Illinois.

After teaching 31 years in Oregon (9 in Pendleton and 22 in Salem), I retired in Oregon and we (wife Gretchen and I) moved to Illinois so I could teach some more. The job was too good to pass up so we are going to do this for about 4 more years and move back to the NW and actually retire. Our three kids are doing their thing. The oldest, Liesel, got a zoology degree from Oregon State and is now in Boise doing one more year to get another degree in Clinical Lab Science. She will be finally done and working by June. Johanne graduated last June from U of Oregon and is now working as an accountant in Seattle. Our youngest is a freshman at the U of Oregon and he is in chemistry. Nobody married and no grandchildren.
