OBITUARY
8/5/1949 — 9/3/2025
Charlotte Earleen Lowry Riersgard passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Corvallis, OR from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Charlotte was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease in 2016.
She was born on August 5, 1949, in Spokane, WA, to William and Earleen Lowry.
Charlotte graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in English education with teaching credentials. She then took a career turn and completed her pre-dietetics coursework at Boise State University, graduated with a master’s degree in Dietetics from Kansas State University and later a Master of International Management from Whitworth University in Spokane.
Professionally, she has held many positions in the dietetics field. These include Associate Professor and Staff Chair of Lane County Extension at Oregon State University; Team Leader for the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Overseas Program in Bamberg, Germany; Public Health Volunteer for the US Peace Corps in Ulaanbaater, Mongolia; Health Educator for Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane; Food Service Supervisor at Queens’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii; Dietary Department Head for Kula Hospital in Maui, Hawaii; Assistant Food Service Director for Meridian, Idaho School District; and Regional Manager for the WIC Overseas Program in Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Charlotte loved to travel, was an accomplished soprano with a love for classical music, and an avid runner who completed five marathons, including Boston.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 54 years, Philip Riersgard; two brothers, Bill (Linda) Lowry of Spokane, Dick (Jackie) Lowry of Moses Lake; one sister, Mary (Don) Hadley of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, at 10AM, at St. Thomas Moore Church in Spokane, WA. Burial will follow.
