Ten years later it’s all the same and it’s all different. I’m still with Health and Welfare about to wrap up 36 years with the department in that “temporary” job I took when I was just a kid. My kids continue to succeed (not that I can claim credit): my son, Bob, is town planner of Meriden, CT, my daughter, Sarah, works two blocks from me for the Idaho Department of Commerce and just led the Idaho delegation (including Governor Otter) to the Paris Air Show, my youngest daughter, Alisha, is a project lead in transportation projects for Austin, TX. Now I have 5 grandchildren on two coasts, 4 of whom I just spent the weekend with camping in Cascade, the fifth will be joining me on an eclipse excursion. I’m still blessed with my wonderful wife of now 16 years, Lori. We serve our Lord together at a church made up of mostly African refugees.
I want to wax philosophical about life, missed opportunities, paths chosen, blessings both material and spiritual – but I don’t know where to begin or end. Let me just leave you with this: tears come to my eyes as I read the obituaries of our fellow classmates, and as I type this. We may not have all been close or even liked each other, but I think we can all recognize the hole created by lives cut short and the blessing we have of one more day to tell someone we love them.
Looking forward to see y’all in July.

After getting my MBA from the U of I I sold insurance, then time share condos. I didn't try used
cars before I took a part-time temporary job with the State. Been there 26 years now in "increasingly responsible
positions." I managed the fiscal operations for northern Idaho before we had to consolidate and I was "offered" a position in Boise.
I've been married successfully for six years and derive my joy in my relationship with her, our children and grandchildren and especially my Lord. (Just ask, I'll be glad to explain). Please indulge me while
I brag -- Alisha was valedictorian at Eagle High School and received full ride or partial scholarship offers every where she applied. She and we are delighted she'll be attending Whitman. (take note, James
Oliver W.) too bad I can't claim any of the genes.
