Children: Raef and Tynan

It is doubtful that I will be able to travel to the reunion. My life
seems to be on a day-by-day track at this moment. Should something
unforeseen allow me to join you there in Moscow, I will do so. I will look
forward to the news from the event and shall delight in hearing details from
the lives of my old high school classmates. You have asked for a brief
update on my life. Brief, being the operative word, so here goes.
I have lived in Southern California now for 38 years, more years than I
like to admit to! I married Ralph Wyatt in 1971; he is a fine attorney,
intelligent and kind. He encouraged me to attend college and in 1974 I
graduated from San Diego State University. We moved to the San Joaquin
Valley in the middle of California. He began work as a public defender,
while I was a probation officer. We started a family in 1979 when my son
Raef was born. Tynan, a brother, followed in 1982.

In 1980, Ralph became a private attorney and we agreed that the intensity
of his practice would leave a large gap in the lives of our children. We
decided that I would forge into the unknown territory of "stay at home mom."
For the next 20 years this was my role and I found delights and rewards
that I never imagined. I had a blast raising my children and my husband was
a superb father to my two sons and a great support and counselor as they
matured into the adults they are today.

Raef has graduated from the University of California and Tynan has
graduated from Brown University, one of the Ivy League Schools on the East
Coast. Raef is working in Bakersfield for a nonprofit organization while he
prepares to go to graduate school. Tynan is working in a veterinary
hospital in San Diego while he applies for several positions in other
countries to further his interest in ecology and conservation.

I have returned to public work as an Adoption Social Worker, finding
permanent homes for children. I enjoy my work, but find that the hours in
the days do not cover the amount of work that needs to be completed. We have
a lovely home that was on the rural outskirts of Bakersfield, but is now
becoming a boom city to many new housing developments. Ralph's legal work
is taking him north, south, east and west, as his clientele continues to
expand. We laugh that he is not home enough for us to argue, thus
contributing to the "perfect" marriage.

We have three cats and one dog. Bella is a border collie, and she is a
wonderful pet. She adores my husband Ralph, pining and moaning for him
during his absences. Fluffy is a Birmin vampire cat, who only comes out at
night. She was abused and tormented by a Pomeranian. She is beautiful but
can be purring and rubbing one minute and batting you with her claws the
next. Little Bit, is a Burmese gray, who I rescued from the home of an
adopting family. He was confined to the shower 24/7 and tormented by the
children when he escaped. He loves me to bits! The final strike in the
three-strike rule of cats at our house is Harley, the Beasite-boy! He looks
like a cow, thinks he's a dog, and looks for mischief wherever he can find
it. He sleeps with the dog, plays with the dog and fights with every animal
in the house. Bella in return herds the cat and tries to keep him from
stealing her toys.

All in all, it's a pretty good life that is boring to others but
wonderful for me. I like to read, bead and stitch. I do a bit of scrapping
and card making as the urge strikes. We have traveled quite extensively
over the years. Recently we have become content to slow down the travel
component in our life. We keep most of our travels close to home and join
friends and family for visits, now and again. We manage an occasional
family holiday for skiing, often at Mammoth Lakes or Tahoe, but have gone as
far as Utah, for the Sundance Festival and Colorado. My son, Raef, is
advocating for Sun Valley this year, so I may see Idaho again sooner than I
thought.

Thanks for letting me know about the festivities. I will be thinking of
you there and I will be reminiscing along with you, even though separated by
many miles. Enjoy!!!
