BRIEF BIO:
After graduating from the University of Idaho, I attended Indiana University, getting masters degrees in music and in theatre. My first major job was to start a musical theatre program at Syracuse University in New York, where I was on the faculty of the Theatre Department for 8 years. In 1984 I joined the faculty at the University of Michigan (where I am now), again to start a musical theatre department, this time in the School of Music. My job involves working with students who want to perform on Broadway and in film and television. Graduates of these programs have gone on to be nominated for (and sometimes win!) Emmy, Tony, Grammy and Academy Awards, which has been extremely exciting, to say the least!I still miss Moscow. My mother lived in the same house from 1960 until 2000, when she moved to Mt. Vernon, WA, to be near my brother's family. I visited her in Moscow every year --- often several times ---- after I left in 1972, and I always considered that house on good old Walenta Drive to be home. I even thought about buying it myself when my mother moved!
I haven't been able to attend a high school reunion, and this year, unfortunately, I'm working here at the University during July and can't get back to Moscow. It's a real disappointment.
Please take many pictures at the reunion and post them afterwards. The website looks great ---- what wonderful memories. Those yearbook photos ---- the clothes and hairstyles -- Yikes! Did we really look like that?!
