Spouse: Paul, for 37 years!!!
Children: Amy, works for the City of Eugene and has
a 3 year old daughter, Faith, who is the joy of our life!! and David,
who works for Bank of America in Beaverton and has our precious grandson
Cal who is 1.
Occupation: For the last 17 years I have been working
as a Hospice nurse here in Eugene. Paul has his own computer business
called Computer House Calls.
2007:
News: We're here in Eugene just growing older together, enjoying our
family, and finding satisfaction and challenges daily in our work. We
talk about retirement, but both of us still find our work rewarding
and really enjoyable. Every summer we still travel to our cabin on Coeur
d'Alene lake for a wonderful week of doing nothing -- and we always
get to spend one special day reconnecting with Caren (Castellaw) and
Bill Langford! Paul and I both love to travel -- although it's hard
for Paul to leave when he's self employed (and everyone thinks fixing
their computer is way more important than Paul getting a vacation!!?)
and also hard for me to leave my folks who are dying. We've managed
several trips in the past few years -- many for getogethers with my
sisters and their families (Susan in Elk City, Idaho, Becki in Dallas,
and Carol in Buffalo). Since both of my parents have died we don't get
back to Moscow - it's hard to imagine they are no longer there in that
yellow house on Blaine Street! Bryce McProud and I manage to stay in
touch here in Eugene inspite of what seems like too (two!) busy lives.
The older I get the more precious the memories of my growing up in Moscow
and my friends there become. Wishing you all the very best!!
2017:
Sadly, Paul and I will be missing the reunion, but know I’ll be thinking about all of you. I am grateful we can connect in otherways, like FaceBook, notes and our annual get together with Bill and Caren Langford.
2017 not only marks our 50th reunion from high school, but 50 years since my AFS year in Sweden. I’m still in touch with several people from that incredible year. Paul and I celebrate our 47th year of marriage this year (My mom would never believe it!!) Since we don’t really think we are actually that old, it seems amazing!!
Our life revolves around our home, our children and our work. I am still working fulltime as a Hospice nurse, and feel so fortunate to have a job that not only satisfies and fulfills me but also continually challenges me intellectually as well as spiritually. Hospice truly reminds me every day how precious life is. My goal is to work to 70 (which is next year – I know, how can that be?) so we’ll see if I make it. Paul has just this year retired from his work as a computer tech. He built his company from scratch 24 years ago and he still has many loyal customers (although most are older than him!)
Our kids and grandkids all live in Eugene so we are blessed to be a part of their lives. Sunday dinner is a tradition now (mostly for the free dinner, but anything is worth time with the grandkids!!). We always spend our week together at our floathouse on Coeur d’Alene lake which is the closest we come to Moscow now. Both of my parents have died, so our frequent trips to Moscow no longer happen. My sisters also all live away(Susan in Elk City, Idaho, Becki in Dallas, and Carol in Buffalo.) We try to have a Sisters Weekend once in a while just to be together. This year we met in Dallas in January for a bittersweet time following the sudden death of Becki’s husband, Les Veal. A month later we had a previously planned trip to KoOlini Hawaii. It was a good time to be together.
Wishing all of you good health and happy moments. The bumper sticker on my car for many years was “Eat dessert first!” (It’s a hospice thing!!?!) Remember that!!
